Almaty, 17 February 2016 – Kcell Joint Stock Company (“Kcell\u201d or the \u201cCompany\u201d) (LSE, KASE: KCEL), the leading provider of mobile telecommunications services in Kazakhstan by market share in terms of revenue and subscribers, announces that the Company realized the first tranche of payment for LTE radio frequencies. Thus, the company has made another important step towards the launch of LTE network, becoming one of the first mobile operators in Kazakhstan, which made a 14 billion KZT payment to the state budget in 2016 for the access to LTE frequencies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The paid amount of 14 billion tenge enables “Kcell” to receive radio frequencies with a 10\/10 MHz bandwidth in the range of 700\/800 MHz and radio frequencies with a 10\/10 MHz bandwidth in the range of 1700\/1800 MHz to be used, in order to deploy LTE network. The company has already begun active preparations to launch LTE in its network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the previously voiced order of the Ministry of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter the “Ministry”), operators were supposed to pay a one-time fee of 4 billion tenge by February 1, 2016 for radio frequencies with 10\/10 MHz bandwidth in the range of 1700\/1800 MHz, and first payment of 10 billion tenge by March 1, 2016, to gain access to radio frequencies with 10\/10 MHz bandwidth in the range of 700\/800 MHz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry also informed all operators of the need to launch LTE on the previously granted frequencies by March 1, 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Permission to use the above frequencies was granted provided that operators will ensure cellular communication coverage of settlements with a population of 500 or more, and all the roads and railways of national and regional significance until 31 December 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
