Kcell and MEGOGO companies became partners in the joint social project – Look how I hear.
Owing to this initiative, children with hearing disabilities from two remedial boarding schools of Almaty city will be able to watch cartoons in sign language at special sessions in contemporary cinemas of Almaty city.
80 children between the ages of 7 and 17 came to the first screening of the cartoon “Robinson Crusoe: the pirate leader”, which was in the Arman cinema. For guests of the project this screening was a real celebrity – we could see it in their sincere smiles. Possibility to watch a cartoon in sign language in a contemporary cinema – it is not a usual occurrence for them, but a bright and memorable event.
“In September the Kcell celebrates its 20th anniversary. For these years we have supported a lot of social projects. And it is a particular pleasure for us to give our special gift to children with hearing disabilities in honor of anniversary of the company. We are confident that it will help children to feel that they are a part of the big world of cinema audience. The idea of the project belongs to the MEGOGO Company – our strategic partner upon the MobiKino service. And we were happy to join to this initiative. Together with our partner we tried to make visits to cinemas as comfortable and safe as possible for participants of the project. Children were provided with comfortable buses, there are food, drinks and memorable gifts. That is why we hope very much that they will experience many positive emotions and impressions”, noted Natalya Eskova, Head of Communications Department of the Kcell JSC.
The project started in September and will continue till December of 2018. During this time about 200 pupils of boarding schools for children with hearing disabilities will be able to watch 10 full-length cartoons, provided by the MEGOGO Company, in the cinema in sign language.
“MEGOGO video-service cares about people with hearing disabilities within the project – Look how I hear. The purpose of the project is to make video accessible for all people. We have our own studio, which produces specialized content. All right holders support social program and provide video with pleasure, and we prepare sign language interpretation and subtitles. MEGOGO also shot a sign language course. The idea is to popularize sign language and prevent language barrier between people. Video course consists of short clips, from which you can learn how to introduce yourself, ask name of a person you are talking to, say “thank you” and other basic phrases necessary for everyday life”, explains Manager on Business Development of the MEGOGO in Kazakhstan”, Zhanar Zhorayeva.
More than 100 films and cartoons in sign language are available at the MobiKino service from the Kcell in partnership with the MEGOGO.
