Kcell JSC, together with other mobile operators, continues the implementation of the 250+ project aiming to provide mobile broadband coverage in every settlement with 250+ population and has, to date, installed its base stations in 24 rural settlements.
The project is part of the Digital Kazakhstan program, it is an ambitious infrastructure initiative that will be financed and implemented by local carriers. The Kazakhtelecom Group of companies will cover 65% of all the expenses associated with the construction of mobile networks.

The project timeline has been coordinated with and approved by local administrations and includes more than 1000 villages with the population of 250 people and more. It will help bridge the digital divide between rural and urban areas. The 250+ project will become one of the drivers of national economic development. In the near future, rural population will get access to the telemedicine services, public digital services, digital education, etc.”

“Under the partnership with Kazakhtelecom JSC, who has since 2018 been engaged in the construction of fiber optic communication lines in rural areas across the country, mobile operators have been able to use transmission based on the created infrastructure to provide mobile broadband access in rural areas. “
In total, more than 1000 villages in Kazakhstan will have access to high-speed Internet by the end of 2020. People in these villages will not only get broadband Internet access but also the opportunity to use electronic public services, distance learning, etc.
The project is part of the state program “Digital Kazakhstan” and is aimed at the development of national telecommunications infrastructure. It is expected that, by the end of 2020, 93.5 percent of rural population will be able to enjoy broadband Internet service. The project is proceeding according to plan and will be completed on time.
