In the first half of 2017, coverage of the four-generation network of the Kcell company increased by 70%. During this time only in the 4G / LTE network, Kcell and Activ subscribers used 18 million gigabytes of data. It is equal to 21% out of the total volume of traffic of the Kcell JSC network.
In the first half of 2017, subscribers of the Kcell used 86 million gigabytes of Internet traffic. In comparison with the same period of 2016 the total volume of traffic increased by 61%. So, in the first quarter of 2017, 42 million gigabytes were used, and in the second quarter – 44 million GB. Herewith, the maximum speed of Internet, which is equal to 156 Mb/s, was fixed in Almaty.
“Increase of mobile Internet traffic is connected with increased penetration of smartphones, video content and extension of the coverage area of 4G/LTE networks. We think that this tendency will remain in future. The Kcell company continues to develop innovative products and services, which meet requirements of our clients. Along with that, we continue to develop technologies and infrastructure of our network,” – noted Arti Ots, Chief Executive Officer of the Kcell JSC.
In the first half of 2017, inhabitants of Ridder, Taraz, Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Petropavlovsk, Shemonaikha and Ekibastuz obtained the access to the 4G/LTE high speed mobile Internet. 20 cities across Kazakhstan were covered by the four-generation network from the moment of its launching in August of the last year.
As the networks develop, the issues of permanent control over the quality and testing of infrastructure become actual. It is necessary to carry out inspection of networks during the whole life cycle, beginning from start-up. Therefore, in the first half of 2017, engineers of the Kcell company drove approximately 8 thousand kilometers in order to inspect quality of the network. Drive-tests were conducted in 32 cities across the whole country.
